The brief:

Morelli Consulting was approached by Virgin Experience Days (VED) to design a sustainability strategy to align with their values and help address their sustainability-related challenges and opportunities.

Virgin Experience Days (VED) approached Morelli Consulting to design a sustainability strategy to align with their values and help address their sustainability-related challenges and opportunities.

What we did:

We started with the discovery phase, researching sustainability topics within the industry; conducting peer benchmarking; undertaking a gap analysis of VED’s existing activities; conducting a workshop with UK and USA colleagues; sharing trends and expectations; and helping with the language of sustainability.

The second materiality phase involved further consultation with stakeholders, including suppliers, through surveys and interviews. We developed VED’s materiality matrix (the sustainability issues of most importance to the company), tested this with the UK and USA colleagues, and created VED’s sustainability framework. We also gathered data to establish a baseline footprint for emissions and environmental resources, and supported VED in creating the measurement framework for its non-financial data.

The result:

Using all of this with input from an internal sustainability working group, we developed the group sustainability strategy and framework, including proposed targets and an action plan.

The results were well received by the global leadership team and sustainability started to be integrated across VED.

“We chose Morelli Consulting because of their solid reputation in delivering fully integrated sustainability plans. The team was a delight to work with and kept our people engaged.  The resulting actions, which are ambitious but practical, are now being implemented.” Christian Jennings, Chief Financial Officer, Virgin Experience Days
