Navigating the CSRD Landscape

The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) has ushered in a new era of corporate transparency and accountability. If you are in a sustainability management role, it’s likely you are being tasked with ensuring your organisation is not only compliant but also leveraging this directive to drive positive change. However, the complexity and breadth of the CSRD and the associated disclosures against the ESRS (European Sustainability Reporting Standards) can be overwhelming. This is where the expertise of a trusted consultancy like Morelli Consulting is key.

Understanding the CSRD: A complex challenge

The CSRD mandates that large and publicly listed companies report on their environmental and social impacts in a standardised and comparable way. This includes disclosing information on climate change, human rights, biodiversity, and other key sustainability factors. The directive aims to enhance investor decision-making and promote sustainable business practices.

However, navigating the intricacies of the CSRD can be a daunting task. It requires a deep understanding of the regulatory landscape, the ability to identify and assess material risks and opportunities, and the capacity to develop robust reporting practices.

Is your organisation in scope?

CSRD reporting is estimated to apply to over 50,000 companies. It is European Union (EU) legislation but applies to both EU and Non-EU companies. See below for the criteria for both EU and Non-EU companies.

When do you need to comply with CSRD?

There is phasing in of the CSRD reporting requirements. It is important to know when your organisation is due to report and the year of information/data required to report. For example, those required to report in 2026, will be publishing 2025 data. See below for the specifics of phasing in of the CSRD reporting requirements.

This information will be used to inform your CSRD reporting and sustainability strategy.

  • Gap Analysis: We conduct a thorough assessment of your organisation’s current practices against the requirements of the CSRD and the multiple disclosure requirements of the ESRS including mandatory data points and those which are subject to the outcome of the double materiality assessment. Morelli Consulting will identify any gaps and develop your roadmap for compliance and driving action.
